Brainvalet is an app where you talk and get your thoughts sorted. This page explains, plainly, what happens to what you say.
What we process
Your voice. When you talk, the audio is turned into text by your phone's own speech recognition (Apple). If your language is installed this happens entirely on the device; otherwise Apple may process the audio on its servers under Apple's terms. Only if recognition fails is the recording sent to our server to be turned into text, and it is not kept once the text is ready.
The text. The text is sent to an AI service that sorts it into tasks, reminders, ideas and thoughts. We do not store the text on the server; the result is returned to your phone and stored only there.
Your onboarding answers (for example how many things you want to see per day) are stored only on your phone.
Your name, if you enter one, is stored on your phone and sent along to the AI service so it can address you. You can leave it blank.
Where your data lives
Everything you create in the app (dumps, tasks, settings) is stored locally on your device. There are no user accounts and no database of your content. Delete the app and everything is gone. You can also wipe everything yourself under Settings → Start over from scratch.
Services we use
Apple for speech recognition, on the device or through Apple's servers, under Apple's privacy policy.
Anthropic (USA) for sorting the text. The text is processed to produce the result and is not used to train their models under their API terms.
OpenAI (USA) for speech to text only as a fallback when the phone's recognition fails, on the same terms.
Cloudflare for the server that relays the requests. Cloudflare may log technical details such as IP address for short periods for operations and security.
Apple handles purchases and subscriptions. We never see your payment details.
RevenueCat (USA) confirms subscriptions for us. They receive an anonymous app id and purchase history from Apple, never your content.
Transfers to the USA rely on standard contractual clauses under the GDPR.
What we do not do
We do not sell data. We show no ads. We do not track you across apps.
We do not store your recordings.
We do not read your dumps.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, they are scheduled locally on your phone (morning brief, evening nudge, reminders). Their content never leaves the device.
Your rights
Because everything is on your device, you are in control: delete in the app or uninstall. For questions, or to exercise GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, objection), email hello@brainvalet.app. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The app is intended for people aged 16 and over.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date below is updated and, for material changes, we let you know in the app.
